I deeply regret bringing my foal to this practice, and after two months of fighting for his life, I feel I ought to share this experience. Throughout his treatment, I found myself repeatedly chasing the team for updates, suggesting which tests to run, and pushing for basic next steps. The responsibility of coordinating his care fell largely on me — something that should never happen under a professional veterinary relationship. My foal currently has suspected sepsis/meningitis and is critically ill. I requested a call yesterday to confirm the specific bacteria identified so we could begin targeted treatment. I phoned three times each time I was promised that someone would call me back. He does not have days to spare, and the results have reportedly been back for several days already so given the urgency of this situation I expected a call as soon as the results came back to the practice ,without me having to call. Under the RCVS Code of Professional Conduct, vets have a duty to communicate promptly and act in the best interests of the animal in their care. I am struggling to see how this situation reflects that. It is also worth noting that this diagnostic test which could have guided his treatment far earlier was not taken at the beginning of his illness — regardless I have been banging on about sepsis from the word go. Most seriously: I was handed a medication known to be highly toxic and potentially fatal to humans, with no label, no hazard warning, and no handling instructions. I discovered this risk through my own research. The supply of veterinary medicines in the UK is governed by the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013, which include clear requirements around safe labelling and client guidance. The tub got labelled up only once I flagged up my concerns. The consequences could have been severe. I have spent £3k with this practice in the recent months. In return I have experienced delays, missed protocols, and a dispensing failure that posed a direct risk to my safety. I hope this review prompts the practice to reflect seriously on their duty of care — to both animals and their owners.

A great Veterinary Practice. The Vets are very thoughtful and professional. I trust my horses with them, implicitly. The Reception staff are very helpful, too.

I've been with The Stables for 15 years now.... Wouldn't trust any other vets with my horses.... I run a shire stud and if it wasn't for Nicko and Tim my most recent foal wouldn't be here.
