Black Rock Vets Ltd is an RCVS-accredited practice with Gold standard Cat Friendly Clinic status and RWAF Silver (Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund) accreditation, and it treats dogs, cats and rabbits. The website highlights laser/photobiomodulation therapy (with an “introductory offer” of discounted multi-session treatment), alongside consultations, vaccinations and routine procedures, and it states a 24/7 out-of-hours emergency service is available.
From the latest reviews, owners describe being seen quickly for urgent problems (one dog with a painful paw was treated within ~20 minutes) and praise clear explanations and conservative decision-making (an elderly cat with unsteadiness was checked thoroughly and offered pain relief first rather than being rushed into euthanasia). A smaller number of recent reviews report serious frustration about billing/admin issues and communication, including being contacted months later about payments and feeling spoken to rudely.
4.8 stars from 184 reviews. - Fast access for urgent problems: one dog with a painful paw was reportedly seen and treated within about 20 minutes after a phone call.

I wouldn’t trust this company to after a receipt of an appliance never mind help an animal. The receptionist is a rude cow, hanging up the phone after I explained I wasn’t paying a missed appointment which apparently back dated from 2023? Cough cough we are in 2026 🤣 I wouldn’t take my animals there even if it was the last veterinary practice on earth. All they care about is money, money, money, they’re running the place into the ground - would much rather have another pub in its existence. P.S don’t miss an appointment you’ll be charged 🤣 AVIOD AVIOD AVIOD AVIOD

Went with the dog and 2 cats today for a check up and flea and worming treatments. Caroline, Poppy and Leah were amazing, so helpful, kind, professional and knowledgeable. Thank you for making our visit so positive. Would highly recommend this practice.

They don't inform you when there is a error on their side. They expect you to sort it out as they contacted me 9 months later over a payment to which I didn't know about. I spoke to owner ( practice manager ) to which i found her totally obnoxious and they she spoke to me. I told her my wife had died last year of terminal lung cancer. My wife set up a care plan with them and when she died I took over to which I had informed them previously. Clearly this hadn't been done properly by them causing this problem. Then I was threatened from her im going to debt collectors in . So I paid and took my pet somewhere else overall they are not good.

Black Rock Vets have been absolutely brilliant. Our 18-year-old cat wasn’t even registered there, but when we feared he might be nearing the end, they saw us straight away. The vet gave him a thorough check over, explained everything clearly, and reassured us that while he does have a heart murmur, it sounded normal, and his lungs were clear. Instead of rushing us into a painful decision, they suggested trying pain relief first, as his unsteadiness could simply be arthritis. Thanks to their compassion and care, we now have a little more time with him and the chance to see if this helps. We’re so grateful for the kindness and honesty shown at such a difficult moment, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Black Rock Vets to anyone.

I found the staff extremely helpful and very supportive I cannot speak highly enough of them. I wasn’t registered with them spoke to reception arranged for my beautiful loyal Labrador Barney to be put to sleep for Tuesday 12/08/25. However Barney died at home at 2.30pm I called them they the receptionist said if I could get him there they would take him. There no one available at the surgery to spare staff to come and take him. My granddaughter and her friend managed to carry him out to my daughter’s car in his fleece blanket. We took him to Black Rock vet’s new to the area we called them said where we were the receptionist came out seen our car and waved there was a parking space my daughter reversed in. Entered the surgery two veterinary nurses came out with a stretcher moved Barney onto the stretcher treated him with respect, dignity and took him in to the back of the surgery then took me into a little room I was given whatever time I needed to say goodbye to him. I was crying so much but I am so grateful for the kindness and support they had shown.

Just fantastic. Our dog injured a paw and was really suffering. A phone call secured an appointment (as and/or when) We took him to the practice and he was seen and treated within 20 minutes. Every member of staff were sympathetic and really helpful. Brilliant.

Gareth and his team are fantastic. They were so caring when I suddenly lost my little dog last year. We now have a rescue from Romania, not many vets are ‘rommy friendly’ but I have experienced nothing but compassion for our little dog, from the lovely reception team, nurses and vets.

My elderly jack russell passed away whilst we were overseas on holiday a fortnight ago. The staff at Black Rock were very compassionate & informative when communicating with me about my last wishes for Molly and in arranging her cremation. I collected Molly today and Ruby on reception dealt with it in an extremely empathic yet professional manner. I can't fault the service I received which made Molls sad passing more bearable.
